Beware of Spoof Websites
There have been reports of fake websites designed to obtain personal information such as customer account numbers, credit card information and user ID’s or passwords. Some of these sites may be inscribed with genuine-looking imitations of our Bank of Botetourt logo. If you suspect that an e-mail or website is not what it purports to be, leave the site immediately. SMiShing Scams
Due to information Bank of Botetourt has received recently on the increase in SMiShing scams in Virginia, we are issuing a warning to our customers.  SMiShing is the use of cell phone text messages to solicit personal information such as ATM pin codes and credit card three-digit security codes.

The text messages often appear to come from a legitimate source, such as a bank or e-commerce website.  The intent of the message is to trick the victim into clicking on a link or calling a particular phone number that could lead to requests for personal information used to steal the victim’s identity.

Please note Bank of Botetourt will never request that you provide your Social Security number or PIN numbers by telephone or email. If you're ever asked for this information, do not provide it! Call us to verify any requests for your personal account information. 866-420-2265
