Q: How can I tell if I have a secure connection to Bank of Botetourt online banking?
A: Confirmation of a secure connection varies from one internet browser to another. One indication is that when you type the web address "bankofbotetourt.com" into your web browser and hit enter, you will see the letters "https" appear right in front of our web address in the address bar of your browser ... the "s" indicates that you have a secure connection. A: Your online banking password ensures that you are the only one to have access to your confidential information. It's important to remember your password and prevent others from learning it. It's also important to change this password periodically to prevent it from being exposed.

Q: Do I have to use my Social Security number as my online banking User ID?
A: No, you only have to use your Social Security number as your online banking User ID the very first time you access online banking. After your first log-in, you can change your User ID by clicking on the "USER OPTIONS" button and selecting "CHANGE USER ID." Just follow the instructions to select a new User ID. Your new User ID is effective immediately; be sure to enter it the next time you access your account.

Q: What happens if I have forgotten my password?
A: Don't worry ... there are two options for resetting your password. The first is to reset it yourself by clicking on MORE OPTIONS, then FORGOT PASSWORD? This selection will take you through a series of questions that you selected and answered when you signed up for online banking. Successfully answering these questions will allow you to reset your password immediately. * Please note the answers to the security questions are case sensitive. You must enter the answers exactly as you did when you signed up for online banking.
The second option is to contact us at (540) 591-5000. A trained online banking specialist will help you reset your password so you can access your online accounts right away. You may also call this number if you experience difficulty when trying to reset the password on your own.

Q: What is Enhanced Login Security?
A: Enhanced Login Security is an online security feature that helps provide online banking users with additional protection from fraud and identity theft. Enhanced Login Security allows us to identify you as the account owner by recognizing your computer along with your personal login information. At the very least, we ask you to select three questions and supply the answers (for instance, "Where were you born?").

Q: How does Enhanced Login Security work?
A: Enhanced Login Security can work two different ways depending upon the option you decide is right for you and your account.
Option 1: When you complete your online registration form, you are asked to answer three security questions. You have the option to enter the answers to those questions at every login, in addition to entering your User ID and password.
Option 2: When you log in to your account for the first time, you'll be prompted to answer your personal security questions. At this time, you can also add extra security to your computer. This allows us to recognize your computer and your regular login information. You'll then not be asked to answer your security questions at each login ... only if you're logging in on a different computer.

Q: How will adding Enhanced Login Security to my account help protect me?
A: Adding this protection to your computer is just one more layer to prohibit unauthorized access to your accounts. If your User ID and password were compromised by someone who then tried to log in from another computer, this feature would stop them because they'd be asked for information only you would know.

Q: How can I transfer money in a hurry?
A: That's easy! From the ACCOUNT ACCESS page, scroll to the bottom. Under QUICK TRANSFER, put in the amount you wish to transfer; from the drop down boxes, select the account to transfer from and to. Click TRANSFER. The next page allows you to confirm the amount and the account numbers - Click CONFIRM TRANSFER; your transfer is now complete.
